Intel Corp and Google Inc launched a development partnership on the latest effort by the world’s dominant maker of PC microprocessors to break into the booming smartphone market.

The two companies will work together to optimize future versions of Google’s Android mobile software for Intel’s “Atom” processors, hoping to speed the development and time-to-market of future Intel-powered smartphones. Read more

Apple ‘fear’: HTC buys Google patents

HTC Corp, Asia’s second-biggest smartphone maker, is using nine patents bought from Google Inc last week to pursue new infringement claims against Apple Inc.

Google had taken ownership of the patents less than a year ago, with four of the patents originating from Motorola Inc, three from Openwave Systems Inc and two from Palm Inc, according to US Patent and Trademark Office records. Jim Prosser, a spokesman for Mountain View, California-based Google, wouldn’t discuss reasons for the nine transfers to HTC. Read more

This $0.99 app available in the App Store lets you take a photo of a person, then analyzes its contours in real-time and displays a score out of ten. Videocon mobile Phones today announced its foray into the growing Android phone market with the launch of ‘Zeus’ in the Indian market, priced at Rs 12,900.

The handset is equipped with Android operating system, a 3.2-inch multi-touch screen, five megapixel camera and Wi-Fi.

The sun may be slowly setting on Maruti Suzuki India’s once-flagship M800 model in the domestic market, but the car is springing a surprise with rising exports this fiscal.
As per Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) data, exports of the M800 jumped by a massive 91.5 per cent to 4,435 units in the April-August period of 2010, as against 2,316 in the same period last year. Read more
